A new collectibles system has been introduced into Farmville. Essentially, you collect a series of items and when you gather all items from a collection, you can trade in that set for experience and coins.
You can get these collectibles by friends gifting them to you, plowing, harvesting trees, harvesting animals, and fertilizing friends plots. If you visit the collectables screen and move your mouse over each item, it will give you a hint on how to find it.

I hope Zynga participates in similar charities in the future.

Tags: barn raising, storage
A new barn raising feature has been added to Farmville which allows you to expand the amount of storage your barns and sheds can hold.

To use this, first click on the gift box/storage button on the lower right corner of the screen and select the storage icon.

Then click on expand storage near the top of the dialog box.

Then click on the expand button underneath the storage item you want to increase capacity on.

Note that you can only have a barn raising on one item at a time. Once you click the expand button, a prompt will come up allowing you to post this to your Facebook feed. Then you’ll need to get 10 people to participate in the barn raising by clicking the “click here to help” link on your feed within 3 days.

There’s a new yellow mystery box and a bunch of limited edition cow print items are available in the market.

Some of these are pretty cute. Especially the cow print outhouse.

Earlier I posted an article about the new chicken feeding feature and how there’s a lack of incentive to do it.
Well there’s another component to this that I wasn’t aware of. If your friends feed your chickens, your eggs will be “especially good” and you can get a coin bonus. My chickens were fed twice and I got 2,000 extra coins. I’m guessing its 1,000 for every feeding.
Still though, I think mystery eggs are a big racket. If you do happen to get your hands on a mystery egg and inside is a nice golden chicken, you don’t get to keep the mystery eggs that that golden chicken produces. So there’s not really much incentive to try and get a golden chicken, or any chicken. Unless your goal is to help your fellow farmers.

Zynga added a new feature to Farmville today where you can feed your friends chickens and gain a chance at winning mystery eggs. At first, I thought that this was awesome and a neat new way to interact with your friends on Farmville. I always look forward to the new features in Farmville, especially if it involves a way to interact with someone else’s farm.

However, after playing around with it, realized that…well, it sucks.
Basically what happens is you visit a friend’s farm, feed their chicken coop, and you might get mystery eggs. But what you may not know is that if you do get lucky enough to find mystery eggs after feeding the chickens, you don’t get to keep those eggs. You have to give them away to your friends. So what’s in it for me? Absolutely nothing.
You get nothing for feeding your friend’s chickens. I might as well just send a chicken gift to my friends rather than waste my time gambling with the chicken coop feeding.
Boo!

Free fuel week has started at Farmville. To get your free fuel, you’ll need to open up the Farmville game each day of the week. You can get a total of five tanks during free fuel week. So come back each weekday for more. By logging in today, I already got my first tank.
For information on how using fuel works, check out my article on fuel.

Happy New Years everyone! Farmers will be welcomed to the farm today with the ball drop and an interesting freebie. Everyone gets a free level up. If you don’t have a new years ball, supposedly you can buy it in the market. However, I wasn’t able to find it in there.
Also note that January 4th starts “Free fuel week” at Farmville. More details on that to be posted soon.

Once you purchase a tractor, harvester, or seeder, you’ll learn about the lovely ways of fuel. However, if you have a large farm like the more experienced players, you’ll quickly learn that one tank of fuel is not enough to even plow all your plots. You could purchase 1 fuel refill for 3 FV cash. Or you could just wait until later in the day for your tank to replenish on its own.
Up until today, I had not experienced refueling in Farmville. Like most people, I wasn’t willing to spend my hard earned Farmville cash on something that could be replenished if I just waited long enough.
But again, like many people, I received a lot of free fuel from the holiday gifts Farmville gave us under the Holiday Tree. So I thought I’d give you an explanation on how the refueling process works.
First, you’ll likely have this fuel in your gift box. Fuel refills typically come in sets of 1, 5, or 10 tanks from the holiday freebies.

You do not have to be low on fuel before you can add a tank to your gas gauge. You can start ‘using’ your tanks from your gift box and adding them to your fuel gauge even when you don’t intend to use them. The tanks will then stay there until they are used. Below is a shot of the gas gauge after I used one of the 5 fuel refills. Note the little “+5.”

Once you use up the currently active tank, you’ll then be switched to the next tank automatically. So be sure to keep an eye on the fuel gauge. But the process of adding tanks should not waste any gas for you. I suggest you add all of your fuel to the gauge now, rather than letting it sit in your gift box. Don’t spend all that fuel in one day!

Tags: gifts, gold gift, holiday tree, lamb
Hello everyone. It’s finally time to open up those gifts under your holiday tree in farmville. There’s also a new gold gift which you should know about. If you trade in 5 farmville cash and 5 of your presents, you can get one gold gift.
I tried the gold gift three times and got one brown chicken, one gold chicken, and one lamb. I’m not too satisfied with these findings so I would not suggest spending the FV cash on it unless you really want to spend it.
One other thing you should know about the holiday tree is once you open some of your presents, you can refill the tree. Meaning if you ended up receiving more than 100 presents, those extra presents can still be opened! Don’t be stupid like me and throw the extras away!
