Baby Elephants

baby_elephantJust noticed a new gift item today, Baby Elephants. I don’t have one yet so if someone could gift me one, that’d be awesome.

Many farmers are experiencing trouble getting into their farms lately. Zynga’s Farmville game is getting more popular by the minute and the load is more than their services can handle.

I’ve attempted to send the elephant gift to my friends but am getting errors on Facebook. Here’s hoping Zynga can adapt to the increased following soon.

UPDATE: it looks as though the baby elephant was a limited time only gift available for just a few days. Baby elephants harvest circus peanuts in 4 days for 125 coins.

Roaming Rotating Rascals

Another new feature has launched in Farmville today. Those cute cuddly farm animals can now roam around on your farm. You can also rotate them.

Personally I think the roaming animation could be better. Looks a little jenky. I’ve seen my animals walking backwards and fuzz up. Weird. Great concept but poor execution. Hire an animator please!

Hopefully they are just still working out the kinks.

Wandering ducks

A new animal has joined the wandering animals group. The ugly duck! Zynga hinted to this on their Farmville feed on Thursday, Sept 10th:

If you happen to see a lonely little duck wandering around your farm, make sure to help him out folks!8:13 PM Sep 10th from web

Recently one of my friends was lucky enough to have one wander on her farm. I didn’t adopt it quick enough. Someone beat me to it. More details to be posted when they become available.

Livestock’s a rip off

Currently you can buy Cows, Chickens (level 4 required), and Sheep (level 7 required) in Farmville. But let me tell you why its a bad idea to spend your well earned coins on livestock.

A sheep costs 700 coins and harvests for 28 coins every three days. An apple tree also harvests for 28 coins every 3 days, but the purchase cost is only 325 coins. That’s less than half the cost! In addition, the apple tree takes up less square footage on your farm and you can start buying apple trees at level 1.

The story is similar for Cows and Chickens as well. Cows cost 300 coins and harvest every day for 6 coins. For only 225 coins, you can get a Cherry Tree and although it takes twice as long to harvest, it earns more than twice that of a cow at 18 coins. There is no value in purchasing livestock when compared to trees.
